In a marquee match-up of Division-leading 8-1 teams, the Buckman Billygoats took an 11-8 win on the Hill over the Sobieski Skis on Sunday.  Both starting pitchers, Jeremy Monson for the Goats and Thomas Miller for the Skis were sharp early, with each facing the minimum 9 hitters through 3 innings as the game moved to the 4th in a scoreless tie.  That tie was broken in the top of the 4th when Buckman plated 5 runs, starting with a 2-run Homer from Matt Kummet with Lane Girtz aboard.  Later in the inning, Joe Kahl singled in a run to make it 3-0 and Jack Suska doubled home 2 more to give the Billygoats a 5-0 lead.  In the bottom of the 5th, the Skis closed the gap considerable by scoring 4 times.  Austin Weisz delivered and rbi single to make it 5-1, a Riley Hirsch ground out drove in the 2nd run and then Scott Litchy smashed a 2-run Homer to make it 5-4 after 5 innings.  Sobieski then took the lead in the bottom of the 7th when Tyler Jendro tied the game at 5-5 with an rbi single and Dusty Parker gave Sobieski a 6-5 lead with a sacrifice fly. Buckman made it a tie game once again in the top of the 8th when a Shawn Lanners rbi double with 1 out knotted the game at 6-6.  In the top of the 9th, Buckman loaded the bases and then Matt Kummet delivered the biggest hit of the game with a Grand Slam Homer to give the Goats a 10-6 lead.  Buckman would add another run in the 9th on an rbi double off the bat of Travis Kahl and the Skis found themselves trailing 11-6 heading to the bottom of the 9th.  But Sobieski loaded the bases when Collin Eckman singled, Joey Hanowski walked and Tyler Jendro was hit by a pitch.  The next man in the Skis order, Dusty Parker, was also hit by a pitch to force in a run and keep the bases loaded with an 11-7 score.  That prompted a 1-out pitching change for Buckman, with Matt Tautges relieving Mark Kahl.  Tautges got the 2nd out on an infield pop out but then Matt Baier singled to drive in a another Skis run to make it 11-8 and bring the potential winning run to the plate with 2 outs.  With the bases loaded, Travis Kahl made a game-ending diving catch in right field to halt the Skis comeback attempt and give the Billygoats the 11-8 victory.  The win was Buckman's 5th straight while the loss snapped the Skis 8-game winning streak.
